Light Rush
Fall 2023
Roles: producer, project lead, 2D artist, UI artist
During the Fall 2023 semester, I was the producer and project lead of a 7-person team. While I managed the group, I also contributed 2D illustrations and art references for the 3D artist and UI art. Part of my duties included maintaining project documentation, managing project tasks utilizing SCRUM methodologies, creating main menu art, creating UI elements, and reviewing tasks completed by other team members.
A multiplayer party game with slapstick fighting elements. Play as one of MonRiverGames's mascots - Spark and Berry, or popular Appalachian cryptids such as Mothman and the Flatwoods Monster. Pass around a light ball before it explodes and eliminates you.
Formerly known as Light Keeper, it was started as an independent study project by Brian Weers in April of 2023 where the light pickup mechanic and timer were implemented alongside a few assets. The Game Design capstone course continued to work on the project in Fall 2023. Utilizing the timer mechanic, gameplay shifted from a "keep away" game to "hot potato."
The initial Fall 2023 goals included 4 player Xbox controller support, 2 new playable characters, unique character abilities, a new map, dynamic stage hazards, and new items. Of these, the new map, stage hazards, and items were fully implemented during the semester. The controller support was a more difficult challenge than anticipated which halted the progress of adding playable characters.
